Books Recommended During Our OCIA Classes.

We can spend a fortune on books and there are many good Catholic Books to read. You might want to discuss books with Deacon Zmuda so that he can help guide you with the books of most importance and value. When possible, I've added a link to the book for identification purposes. I use Amazon so links happen to go there. Simply click on the picture of the book.
A Catholic Bible
There are many Catholic Bibles. This one we have used in past OCIA Classes. All Catholic Bibles should have the IMPRIMATUR and the NIHIL OBSTAT. These indicate approval by Church
The Catechism of the Catholic Church
I Think of the CCC as an encyclopedia of all Catholic understandings and teachings.
St. Joseph Baltimore Catechism
This book goes way back to early American History. It was developed to teach the basics of Catholicism. While written for grade school, this book is recommended by many for adults. Much like the "Quick Start" instructions that come with new electronics.
Daily Missal
The Daily Missal is hard to navigate in the beginning. It contains the whole Mass with all the daily readings (A-B-C years) and good for many years. This is the ultimate book for following every Mass through out the year.
Sunday Missal
Sunday Missal
This book is for SUNDAYS only and good for only one year. It is much easier to follow but does have the basics for following the Mass.
Catholic Book of Prayers
This is one of my favorite Catholic Books. It has a prayer for nearly any situation or need. I have found it to be most comforting. It's not a read from cover to cover but a read index to find a prayer suitable for what you need.
